The Tax Petition Group is a nonprofit organization that serves the interests of South Africans residing and working abroad with respect to South African taxation legislation. Our aim is to provide a platform to lobby against changes in legislation and provide guidance on taxation that is objective and accurate and serves the needs of our community and members. We will represent, engage and interact with the South African treasury and receiver of revenues to impact existing and future changes to the tax laws to ensure that our members best interests are protected.

Barry is an electrical and control systems engineer, residing in Abu Dhabi, UAE (United Arab Emirates), with his wife. He works in the oil and gas sector. He has two adult daughters and a grandchild residing in South Africa, and he has strong filial ties with his extended family. He grew up in Post Elizabeth where he completed his formal education/studies, Bachelor Technology – Electrical Engineering HC. During his career, he was a director of a control systems company and owner of a closed corporation based in SA. He later contracted himself out and worked extensively in Africa and the Middle East. In March 2017 he started the South African Tax petition group. He realized the impact that the repeal, of Section 10(1)(o)(ii) Act, No 58 of 1962, would have on South Africans working abroad, the families and general economy in South Africa, as well as the future youth wanting to venture out of SA to work abroad.

Jerry is the managing partner of TaxConsulting, a firm of tax attorneys, chartered accountants, master tax practitioners, employee reward and benefit specialists as well as emigration advisors. Previously from McCorkindale & Holton, where he did his articles, he subsequently headed-up individual tax for KPMG South Africa, Associate Director at Deloitte after which he started his own niche tax consultancy. He is on the executive of the South African Reward Association, Chairs the SARA Employee Benefit Committee, previously the tax chair of the Financial Planning Institute, he conducted the monthly tax technical updates in 2017 for the South African Institute of Tax. His clients are mainly large employers, international firms with South African presence, international executives with complex tax dispute cases. The largest SARS defense he conducted was a R3.5bn tax assessment fully closed in favor of the taxpayer. He is credited with a number of market leading SARS Binding Rulings including on share schemes and international pensions.

Lelanie holds a National Diploma in Financial Management, a National Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting and a legal degree obtained from UNISA. She is married and has a baby boy and is residing in George. She completed her Articles at Boshoff Visser Accounts and is registered with SAIPA as a Professional Accountant and a Professional Tax Practitioner since 2005. Lelanie has 16 years accounting experience varying from Monthly Accounting work, VAT and Payroll submissions to the Preparation of Annual Financial Statements and submitting of Income Tax Returns. She was appointed as director of Africorp Solutions and Advisory on 6 February 2017 and is the leading accountant at Africorp Solutions and Tax Consulting.
